Boat Transport

When shipping a boat from marina to marina, please choose a marina or boatyard with at least 14′ overhead clearance, with no low tree branches or wires on its approach. Legal loaded height is 13’6” which is the overall height from the ground to the highest point of the boat while on our trailer. Usually, if the boat height is 12′, we are within the legal height limitations. Don’t worry if you measure your boat and it is over 12′ high. In most cases, the removal of a flybridge, radar arch, or bow pulpit on a sailboat will bring the boat down to legal limits.  Boats that load out over 13’6” high may need additional escorts, route surveys, police escorts, etc. in order to be compliant with the oversized permits issued and to ensure the safety of your vessel.

Boats that have a beam of over 8’6” wide are considered an “oversize load” and will require permits in every state that we travel through.   We will obtain these permits and include these costs in your quote.  Vessels that are over 12′ wide may require a “certified escort” or two, depending on its size and the state being traveled through.  This too is an additional charge that will be included in your quote. The only time you will run into extra charges is if we are re-routed by the state when ordering the oversized permits. This will happen when there is road construction or other detours that will not allow your boat to go on that particular road due to size or weight.  When we are re-directed by the issuing Department of Transportation and additional mileage is added to the trip, you will be charged per mile over and above the mileage quoted in your contract for this particular transport.

For your convenience, we have various boat trailers that are sure to fit your needs. All equipment is air-ride in order to allow a smooth ride for your yacht. Our 53′ wide belly low boy can safely support large oversized yachts. If the location allows for the overall size of the truck and trailer, our hydraulic trailer can be used to bring your vessel home.  The hydraulic trailer is mainly used locally in the Finger Lakes.

When traveling the New York State Erie Barge Canal, mast shipping is always an important factor for sailboats locking through. We offer reasonable rates to ship your mast from one end of the New York State Canal System to the other so that you can enjoy the canal system without the mast being in the way.

We are fully insured and have never had a claim in our 30 years in business. We carry $1,000,000.00 liability and $350,000.00 cargo insurance. Proof of insurance is available upon request.

Once you have decided to use us as your transport company, you will be sent a contract which you will need to sign and return to us with a deposit of half of the hauling charges. This deposit will secure the time frame and quote given for your transport.  The balance is due by official bank check, credit card or cash at the time of delivery.
